There is something about odors that jogs the memory in unexpected ways - a chance whiff of a bar stool seat recently vacated by your date can spark a sudden memory of yourself at age 16 in the backseat of a 57 Chevy in the Drive In movies with your date, Jennine, the girl from chemistry class who you’ve been prying with Rolling Rock all evening.

But I’m digressing.

The other thing that brings back memories like nothing else is music. If you grew up in or around the Vietnam Era - you have to check out this guy’s website. He’s collected every song known to man that was out during the 60s and 70s, and every one will remind you either of the smell of napalm in the morning or Jennine in the night.

CAN YOU FUCKING BELIEVE THE ARROGANCE OF THIS MAN? Or is it not arrogance, is it, finally and refreshingly, HONESTY?

Finally, a Socialist US President who comes right out and admits that he is a Socialist, and that if he had his way his leadershp would be DICTATORIAL. All Socialist nations dissolved eventually into Totalitarian governments, becuase “forcing” people to do what you want them to do, to use Obama’s own words, is the only way you can maintain a Socialist economy.

You and I, the taxpayers, ponied up a million dollars for their release, and these ungrateful little bastards were quick to denouce us.

One of the first things out of thier liberal mouths was that the United States, too, sould release all of OUR “political prisoners.” I presume they’re talking about convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu Jamal, who still breathes a quarter centery after his conviction.

The freed hostages also moaned that ” Sarah, Josh and I oppose U.S. policies towards Iran which perpetuate this hostility.

So it’s our fault.

The era immediately following 9.11.01 saw the emergence of several public figures who became downrigh heroic. George W. Bush. Rudi Gulliani. Donald Rumsfeld. And General Richard B. Meyers, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. General Myers led the US Armed Forces during a time of great threat to the Nation’s security. He began his term just a few weeks after September 11th and was instrumental in guiding the US strategy for the War on Terror.

General Myers retired as the 15th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on October 1st, 2005, after serving over 40 years in the US Air Force. During his term as Chairman, he served as principal military adviser to the President of the United States, the Secretary of Defense, and the National Security Council.

A fighter pilot with over 4,100 hours, General Myers logged more than 600 combat hours in Vietnam.

Of all of his accomplishments and life adventures, the image of General Meyers that sticks most in my mind is his attendance at Rolling Thunder in Washington DC, May 2002. You see, Meyers is not just a fighter pilot, he’s a biker. And a biker with a very cool jacket, to boot. This is my kind of Joint Chiefs Chairman:
